Once known as Karlstadt, was built in the 16th c. for the purpose of defense against the Turks as a single town in the form of a six-pointed star.
In Karlovac, there is a lot of things to see - Old Town Dubovac from 13th century, the City Museum, Holy Trinity Church and the Franciscan monastery with a gallery, the Town Theatre Zorin Dom, or some of the Warehouses. The fair estate in Dubovac represent the old crafts, customs and games with food according to old recipes.
If you want to escape into nature, away from city stress, come to hunt, fish or enjoy rafting and canoeing in the area of Karlovac. Take a walk in the fresh air, on a forest educational trail Kozjača or play paintball in the woods around Karlovac. At summer be sure to visit the traditional days of beer or get a refreshment swim in the river Korana at Foginovo beach in the city center!
